Simply tasteful and something else! A hallway with 50s feeling but still simple.

The country girl

When I saw the first time the picture of Sara feeding a bird chick from her hand I was enchanted. Just gorgeous! Not less I’m thrilled how she’s renovating the house of her grandmother. Find out more about Sara and her house project on her blog SaraMay.

I’m a voyeur, kind of

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Please do not misunderstand me. I like the title of this post very much because somehow it is kind of daring and sensational, even though this post is not meant to be a soul striptease. But I like to speak about voyeurism in relation to my pleasure for sneak peeks. I find it exciting to explore unknown territories. I love to see how others live. Not only to satisfy my curiosity but also to get new impulses. And when I thereby discover decoration pieces which I also possess then this is not only funny but also a kind of confirmation of my choice. And when I get my regularly dose of sneak peeks from The Selby this can happen. The first image shows my decoration and all other pictures (from The Selby) are from the home of Cheryl and Michael.

The 70s always catch me. Repeatedly I find myself doing to glimpse on the typically sunny colours and sometimes kitschy decorations and furniture. Although in our apartment is noticeable some 70s influence so far I managed to keep the balance between the 70s and other influences. But when I see the pictures of the the arrangement of a young Japanese couple which lives without cutting back the 70s style I become ecstatic. The pictures are from Sean Myers.

Childhood and influences

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Time and time again I can smile about myself when I get aware about my preferences and their influences from my childhood. When I see something orange, a fabric with flowers and especially about wallpapers I can go bananas because I like them so much. This force is always around me and I guess for sure has been the reason that I desperately wanted orange Werner Panton chairs and that I was looking for years for a teak sideboard, even though I chose a model from the 50s. And I got lucky, because I still can go back to the roots of my interior experiences, although my family has moved to another place. At the place where I was raised friends of us still live. They changed the apartment when my family has moved out. And these friends did not replace all wallpapers, on the contrary they perfectly understand to mix colours and different styles. And most pleasant to me, they do not care at all about so-called trends.

The Scandinavians are coming

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

Always when I see pictures of Scandinavian homes I think we need more colours in our place. The Scandinavians really have a nice taste and understand how to live with colours. And Rie Elise Larsen is one of them. The pictures are from Bo Bedre.
